Are you ready for an adventure that combines the thrill of a treasure hunt with the beauty of Lake Cumberland? The Monticello Wayne County Tourist Commission is excited to kick off their third annual Finders Keepers event, and you won’t want to miss it!
Finders Keepers is a community-wide hunt where locals and tourists alike search for hand-blown glass globes stamped with the Heart of Lake Cumberland logo. These beautiful glass floats are hidden all around Wayne County, with many located near or on the shores of the picturesque Lake Cumberland, making this hunt an exciting activity for both land dwellers and boaters.
The hunt is not just about finding these stunning glass floats; it’s also about the camaraderie and excitement it brings. Clues about the whereabouts of these hidden treasures are posted on the Monticello Wayne County Tourist Commission's Facebook page. Float hunters follow these hints, turning every clue into a fun-filled chase. When a glass float is found, the lucky finder posts their discovery on the Facebook page, alerting others and adding to the community buzz.
Whether you’re a seasoned treasure hunter or a first-time participant, Finders Keepers offers an engaging way to explore the beautiful landscapes of Wayne County while enjoying a bit of friendly competition. So grab your family and friends, follow the clues, and embark on an adventure to uncover these hidden gems. Who knows? You might just be the next lucky finder to share your discovery with the community!
Join the hunt today and be part of a fun-filled tradition that brings people together and showcases the stunning scenery of Monticello, Kentucky. Happy hunting!
Please note: We try extra hard to hide these floats well enough to allow time to hunt. Please do NOT drive crazy on the roads, pass cars in unsafe conditions, or be anything short of neighborly when hunting. The purpose of this hunt is to build community and involve tourists in the outstanding beauty of our portion of Lake Cumberland. While it is fun to be competitive about finding them, there will be another. We have 25 floats to place this summer! We will not place these floats in unsafe locations. However, we do recommend wearing good shoes, and if it seems too challenging for a small child to participate in, then it probably is; please use good judgement.
